Artist's Description

This image was inspired after reading Bretts poem, The Morrigan.

The Morrigan

I stood all alone in a world I knew
But a world so greatly changed
And the stars in the branches of Ygrassil
In their constellations ranged

And the edge of this world ran along to my right
Like a cliff’s edge sheer and high
And a plain like a table of anthracite
Stretched away from my straining eye

And I knew that this wasn’t a dream I was in
For a dream has certain feel
And I knew that it wasn’t a physical realm
But seemingly just as real

For my sight and my mind were together combined
I could take it all in with a sweep
And I felt so at home that I wanted to stay
And I hoped that I wasn’t asleep

Came a sound from behind like a feeling of sound
And a sense of incredible size
But no hint of alarm or of danger or harm
Just a tingle of pleasant surprise

When Her arms went around me I knew it was Her
I grew like Olympus forming
As I whispered “Its you”, in my mind, as it were
And her breath on my cheek was warming

But Her loving embrace was not fashioned of flesh
For I saw as it was unfolding
Two incredible wings in the deepest of black
Were myself and the universe holding

And I begged Her to stay; with my heart did I beg
And I pleaded with her to enslave me
Then with tears in my eyes I fell back to this earth
And that’s all that the Goddess gave me
