Each time I take the Metro in Paris I look at people and think – who are they, where are they going, what do they do in life? They often look lost in their thoughts: are they worried, are they thinking of a loved one? Most of the time though it seems they are dreaming about a better life… I hope I’m wrong and that most are just tired after a long day at work.
For those who don’t speak French the graffiti on the wall say: “Consume and shut up”, and “To be born, to consume, to die”.

I love this Douzy – a classic black and white image – like a scene from a film – really beautiful work.
Thanks Deborah!! – Lol you’re just always around aren’t you!?? :))
great shot…love her expression
I think the same too. What is going on in their life at the moment? Is it any better than mine? Are they struggling to survive as much I am? This is a never ending loop. Nice shot!
This photo is very dramatic. Excellent…I cannot express enough how awesome this is!
I love people watching too. This is a great capture, love the women biting her nails and the way you have framed the shot, it is very atmospheric.
Wonderful shot, Douzy. Takes me back.
Thank you all for your support! :)))
Une belle image!
Douzy this is outstanding! The juxtaposition between the woman and the one in the advertisement couldn’t be better – particularly surrounded by that grafitti and with the “instant gratification” vending machine also in frame – beautifully composed this. And the use of b/w just accentuates the starkness of the theme and questions you raise. Brilliant work my friend. This has an added poignancy for me as in younger days I used to spray paint grafitti llike this on mainly cigarette advertising billboards to try and provoke just the kind of thoughts you’ve expressed here.
