I've missed you!! + New Wedding photography website by Douzy

Posted on October 16, 2009

Hello all RedBubblers,

I’ve missed you!!

What a year it’s been. I gave birth to my daughter 1 year ago, then got married (twice! – to the same man ;), spent some time abroad and returned to work.

Not much time for photography.

However, in the meantime, I had the honour to shoot a few weddings, which made me realise how much I actually love wedding photography, so I decided to jump and focus on it seriously. I’m not giving up my day job yet, but hopefully things will slowly but surely shift my way.

I’m therefore proud to introduce 02/05 Photography (for the romantics out there 02/05 is our wedding date…): http://www.0205photography.com

To this purpose I’ve just bought a Canon 5D Mark II and the super duper Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L lens which cost me an arm and a leg so I better get lots of clients soon!! ;)

I’m also looking forward to browsing through the amazing artworks on this site again, and especially keep a close eye on the Wedding Group.

See you around and thanks again for all the support I kept getting while I was absent.

Welcome back! So glad things are working out for you, good luck with the wedding thing, but most of all, with your own!!!
Anyone who marries the same man twice (and in such a short space of time!!!) deserves congratulations/commiserations/amazement/bemusement/astonishment … and best wishes LOL

  • Douzy:

    Thank you Denzil! :)

Wow so much in one year and what a lovely looking little lady….

We have our first on the way next March very exciting.

Your website looks great I would love to do something like this I have done a few weddings now for friends and family but I am not quite up to your standard.

  • Douzy:

Thanks Ian! You can actually make a really professional looking website (for free!) using wix.com (the one I used for mine). No special knowledge required, it’s like a drag and drop thing. Good luck!

Hey, Douzy. Your website is both slick and personal, a great combination in my books. Here’s to giving up the day job.

  • Douzy:

Oh hi Jason, it’s been a while, nice to see you’re still around! Thanks for your kind comment as always.

I have been looking at you wedding photos and wondered what software you use for your processing. I really like the look of your images what kind of processing do you do. I am currently editing photos I took for my sisters wedding I am tweeking levels / exposure / brightness and saturation. I have also been playing a bit with vignettes but I am not sure about them at the moment. I would love to get the silver efex plugin to make black and white conversions easier I used a demo and its spot on I just cant justify the cost. I use aperture which is working well at the moment.

  • Douzy:

Hi Ian, sounds like we are doing exactly the same thing! I’ve also been trying the Silver Efex plugin which is great but if you can’ justify the cost playing with the different b&w filters in Aperture can give great results too (sometimes you need to add extra contrast though to make the whites pop). I almost always add vignette, which tends to darken the whole image in a moody way. I also always shoot in Raw which by nature is less vibrant/saturated so that might add to the feel that you like. I’m not doing anything else though.

Cool I will have a go with the black and white filters I am tending to drop the saturation and then adjust the levels till I have a nice punchy contrast. I think I am liking the vignette as you say it gives the image a moody look and focuses the attention on the figures. One thing i have been doing is dropping the saturation to black and white then adjusting the image to get it looking right in terms of contrast with levels then putting the colour back in which seems to give a well balance image. I think you are right about Silver Efex its a luxury that I cant afford.
