Le dernier Metro
Each time I take the Metro in Paris I look at people and think – who are they, where are they going, what do they do in life? They often look lost in their thoughts: are they worried, are they thinking of a loved one? Most of the time though it seems they are dreaming about a better life… I hope I’m wrong and that most are just tired after a long day at work.
For those who don’t speak French the graffiti on the wall say: “Consume and shut up”, and “To be born, to consume, to die”.

I love this Douzy – a classic black and white image – like a scene from a film – really beautiful work.
Douzy
Thanks Deborah!! – Lol you’re just always around aren’t you!?? :))
Jessica Tremp
great shot…love her expression
Charles Dobbs ...
I think the same too. What is going on in their life at the moment? Is it any better than mine? Are they struggling to survive as much I am? This is a never ending loop. Nice shot!
Scott Denny

Douzy this is outstanding! The juxtaposition between the woman and the one in the advertisement couldn’t be better – particularly surrounded by that grafitti and with the “instant gratification” vending machine also in frame – beautifully composed this. And the use of b/w just accentuates the starkness of the theme and questions you raise. Brilliant work my friend. This has an added poignancy for me as in younger days I used to spray paint grafitti llike this on mainly cigarette advertising billboards to try and provoke just the kind of thoughts you’ve expressed here.

Great image, like the composition and treatment. Metro stations have an atmosphere all of their own .

Beautiful work once again, Douzy. They are fitting words and you’ve caught the lady’s expression at just the right time for the billboard and graffiti.
What is the line at the bottom? (“cyclez…”)

i would die to take this picture so you could all consume – i’ll be happy for it to be in my favourites – what a thing! a picture for the 2000’s – our utterly stressed traveller beautifully poised underneath the fashion photograph.. the revolution starts here.

One day long ago I left the Louvre and walked down into the metro. Sitting there was a woman that looks crazy like this girl. We chatted, had dinner and a long walk. Hadn’t thought about that night for years until now. Thanks Douzy!
Back to your pic….killer B&W with and a powerhouse of emotion.

This is great, love the poster on the wall and her far off gaze. After reading what the graffiti means its quite appropriate that the vending machine is also in the image. Wonderful piece :)
