watercolour on Arches 300 lb rough 18.5″ × 28″

A ridge of ice lines the shore of Lake Superior after the ice shifted during previous windy weather. The sun shines through the chunks of ice producing a beautiful turquoise and green.
The rest of the lake is still frozen and covered in a thin layer of snow. The scene has a Zen-like quality that captures my imagination.

Near Rossport, Ontario, on the north shore of Lake Superior, Canada.

Born in Essex, England, living in Canada now, north of Lake Superior in Schreiber, Ontario.
Painting in watercolours since I was 8 years old, and after a career in the field of photography, mostly with Konica Canada, I am finally an artist, full time.

That transparent green-blue glow of the ice is so cool! My husband was just on the ice on Lake Superior last weekend. Is that where this is?

  • Yes this is Lake Superior in between Terrace Bay and Nipigon on the north shore.
