Beautiful colour choices, Doug. This is really a beautiful painting.

The pastels of the sunset really made an impression on me when I came over this hill.
Thanks for your compliment, Bev
Colin Cartwright
A very good watercolour painting, Douglas. I likethe way you see the warm sunset colours in the distance, between the near sides of the snow-covered rocky canyon. Looks like you took a photo from the car and painted it later. Excellent!
Douglas Hunt replied
That’s exactly what I did (there is no place to pull over to take this shot, unfortunately). Thanks for the comment, Colin.
Brian Towers
Those contrasting warm and cool colours make this winter scene a winner Douglas.
Douglas Hunt replied
Hi Brian; that’s what struck me about the scene and made me want to paint it.
Lora Garcelon

Amazing work Douglas. I can ‘feel’ the temperature! You have captured the light in this so well. I am transported to the spot by this painting. You have a lot of ‘bests’ but this is another one of them!
Douglas Hunt replied
thanks for your beautiful comment, Lynda
Jim Phillips
Wow, Douglas that is some terrific use of color my friend. I truly enjoy all your landscapes (and your other work as well), but this one sidesteps a bit into an adventure with color and I like that.
Douglas Hunt replied
Thanks Jim; I like to see if I can mix it up a bit and experiment.
Kent Brewer
Very nice. It’s so easy to over-work a scene like this but you did a nice job of avoiding that.
Douglas Hunt replied
Thanks Kent; I do have a tendency to not quit while I’m ahead with a painting! LoL

Another beautiful work of art, I love the fragile beauty of winter (even though the season is such a beast) and you’ve rendered it well!
Douglas Hunt replied
Winters are a big part of living on the north shore of Superior, and I didn’t see the beauty of winter until I moved here.
Thanks for the lovely comment, Kate.
