The tower was built in the 18th century and sits on Kinnoull Hill with commanding views off the Carse of Gowrie and River Tay meandering towards the estuary at Dundee. There are many woodland walks on the hill. The tower comes into view when traveling along the Dundee – Perth – Edinburgh road near the Friarton Bridge at Perth.
