Why are LLama eyes called 'iridic granules' or 'corpora nigra'? by

Llamas have eyes unlike human eyes. Their pupils are not round but elongated and look like a key. Llama’s eyes comes with structures called ‘iridic granules’ or ‘corpora nigra’. These are dark lumpy masses coming off the iris at the top and/or bottom of the pupil margins. They are thought to help shade the eye from bright sunlight. Their eyes come in different colors, but mostly shades of brown. Though like human eyes, when a photograph of the eye is taken…it can capture reflection of the sky or the eye may get red eye. Which both make it easy to see the key shape pupil. I hope you enjoy.
