Harold Shipman (1946-2004) is one of the world’s most prolific ever serial murderers. As a hospital intern and later as a general practitioner, Shipman is believed to have killed at least 250 of his patients with diamorphine between 1975 and his capture in 1998. Shipman committed suicide in Wakefield prison, where he was serving 15 life sentences, in 2004.
