John has been a long time exponent of digital photography having purchased his first digital camera back in 1999 after many years of shooting transparencies (Slide Film).
John describes himself as a discerning Black Country photographer, who sees digital imaging as a tool rather than a box of tricks, a photographer, whose images are linked by a natural instinct for subject arrangement and attention to detail.
John’s approach to picture making is spontaneous – seeking to recapture for the viewer the same mood and atmosphere which drew him to the subject in the first place. John enjoys a relaxed approach to his photography preferring to capture landscapes and nature subjects, both in and around his native West Midlands or at one of his favourite locations across the Welsh border in the Snowdonia National Park.
John is a founder member of the Dapa Group, a small but growing group of enthusiasts, who share a similar passion for image making. Dapa Group caters for the more experienced proletarian photographer, looking to further develop their awareness and experience of the art.
It was through Dapa Group that John rekindled his enthusiasm for exhibition photography. John now enjoys repeated success by entering his work in National and International exhibitions under patronage of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and Federation International de l’Art photographique (FIAP).
John currently holds two BPE Crown Awards for his labours.
