40 × 50 cm Acrylic on canvas. This work comes from the sites I have seen whilst in the Australian out back. Sitting round a camp fire one evening the fruit bats came close. At that momment out came my pad. When I started this painting the image to me had to be done in dot work even the wings on the fruit bat requird dot work. To me it worked in a supriseing way. Saying that I am open to all comments good or bad.
Wow, you have incredible talent. You have pushed the boundaries of the traditional aboriginal dot paintings into something unique and different, whilst staying true to your culture. Well done!
Your bat is excellent. I love the translucent feel of the wings, which you can see in real life, but rarely see represented in paint. The color is spot on for fruit bats.
Wow Derek, this is really beautiful! I would love to try painting something like this, but I image it takes a vision and lots of patience :) I like the light beam that you have incorporated through the middle of the painting…makes it unusual!

A great piece of work! I love the mosaic look of the background, and … fruit bats; what a concept!
I really do love that background Derek. It’s mesmerising and the bats are incredible!
