Artist's Description

The words are a translation of a haiku by Taneda Santoka (1882-1940). The image of a Barred Owl was drawn with a single bristle from a bamboo broom dipped in sumi ink, and then colored with water-soluble gansai paint using a coloring brush. The paper used is a highly absorbent, soft washi postcard (hongasenshi).
