The words are a quote from a poem called “The Rum Tum Tugger” by T.S.Eliot, from the book titled: Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, on which, I’m told, the Broadway musical CATS is based.

Someone recently told me this cat reminds her of the changeling cats (“ba-ke neko”) that feature in Japanese horror stories. Now I think of that each time I see it!
