Illustrated Recipe: Artsy Fartsy Nuggets by

“Artsy” because they’re pretty to look at. “Fartsy” because they’re made of beans! I made this for a Cooking 4 Kids contest. This is from my on-going illustrated recipe series. Each illustration spreads over two washi postcards and is painted in the Etegami style.

Etegami is a Japanese folk art that combines simple images with words on washi paper, often postcards. Each postcard is 10mm x 15mm (approx 4×6 inches).

I am a professional Japanese-to-English translator and an Etegami artist. Etegami is a traditional Japanese folk art that combines thoughtful words with simple images painted on washi paper.

    peace love and light always

  • That’s great! This recipe is inspired by a traditional Japanese confection that uses legumes as its main ingredient. It’s so much healthier than store-bought treats and kids love to twist food in plastic wrap or cheesecloth to make the distinctive shapes. Lots of giggles in the kitchen. : )
