Artist's Description

I associate some happy childhood memories with these marine bivalves (I mean “clams” of course, heh heh). The accompanying words are a quote from the “Old Settler’s Song (Acres of Clams),” a Northwest United States folk song written by Francis D. Henry around 1874.

This is an original Etegami painted with sumi ink and water-soluble gansai paints on a soft washi postcard. Etegami is a traditional Japanese folk art that combines simple images with thoughtful words.
