Illustrated Recipe: Matcha Cheesecake by

This is from my on-going illustrated recipe series. Each illustration spreads over two washi postcards and is painted in the Etegami style.

Etegami is a Japanese folk art that combines simple images with words on washi paper, often postcards.

This piece was featured in Fantastic Mixed Class Art, 2/24. (Was Fantastic Primitive Art)

Yummy! While I don’t like like to drink matcha I really like matcha flavored food. Your work is really wonderful, Debbie.

  • Thank you Ethna! Matcha has to be served in the right manner and with the right accompaniment to taste good in tea form. It’s much easier to use it as a flavoring in western-style desserts. : )

I just love your whole receipe serie! Are you planing to do the mochi receipe? ;-) Really like all your work!

  • Hi Marie-Eve, I’m not sure what mochi recipe you mean. If you are interested in Wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets), I have a wagashi recipe blog you may enjoy. http://wagashichronicles.blogspot.com/
