Dosanko means born and raised in Hokkaido, the northernmost island/prefecture of Japan. Although I am not Japanese, I have lived in Japan since birth. I am a professional translator and an Etegami artist. Etegami is a traditional Japanese folk art that combines thoughtful words with simple images painted on washi paper. It is a form of mailart, meant to be drawn with the receiver in mind. All my etegami are done on washi postcards.
See more of my Etegami at http://etegamibydosankodebbie.blogspot.com where I discuss the cultural background and the tools I use for each piece.
Many of the original etegami are available at easily accessible prices on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/dosankodebbie
