1921 Burrell 6 nhp Showman’s Road Locomotive – Island Chief
Works No.3878 – Reg. No. BT 3997
This engine was new to Alf Payne of Hull, Yorkshire, and was then called “Excelsior”. and with whom it travelled the North East of England. It was then sold to Arnolds Amusements on the Isle of Wight and was renamed “Island Chief”. It remained in showland life until 1949 when she was sold to a Hampshire farmer for agricultural purposes, threshing etc. This engine was also used in the WWII for hauling guns.
