The Almshouses
The approach to the church is enhanced by the neat row of almshouses so admirably built that it is hard to realise their age.
The Almshouse called Jesus’s Hospital, was founded by Sir John Wynn, the first Baronet of the Family, in the year 1610 with 12 rooms for men only.
The last resident was Mary Roberts or Mary Delyn as she was called she died in 1976.The Almshouse was then closed. Sadly it went into a state of decay but thanks to the Trustees of Sir John Wynn of Gwydir and of the Almshouses it has been saved and restored. Now you will find a small museum depicting life in Llanrwst through the ages. Also a 17th century room and an 18th century room as well as a Sensory Garden.
