I am a natural artist, learning from years of experience in hands on graphic, theatrical and textile design as well as my individual artworks.
I love to experiment – bold, vibrant colour and texture fascinate me so I aim to create exciting and evocative artwork. I paint in acrylics, watercolour and mixed media, also using textiles in much of my abstract artwork. I love finding new ways to work and I make no apologies for the different styles in my portfolio…..... it is a great cure for boredom and keeps my work fresh and vibrant!
Recently I found a new love for portraits….I adore animal and human forms, the textures of skin and fur, expressions, features but most of all characters. I enjoy portraying my subjects as accurately as I can, with attention to small details like a reflection in an eye or the hairs and whiskers of an animal.
Capturing the spirit and emotion of the subject in a drawing is what my drawings all about. I start with the eyes trying to figure the inner soul. For me the eyes tell it all this is what makes my art and portraits special. I capture the essence and character of the subject.
Getting the character from an animal or person across to you through a painting or a drawing is my aim with every picture I create.
As you look at my images, I ask you to see the individual character. Whatever the species…… every individual is unique.
Painting comes from the heart and it is something I am highly passionate about….after all, who is more passionate than a redhead?
