Superb Lyrebird by Donovan wilson
Clear

Finally i have the shot that i am happy with to me this shows why he is called the Superb lyrebird and i only wish you could hear his song..Yarra Valley. Australia. One of the great exhibitions of the Australian forests is the courtship display of the male superb lyrebird Firstly he builds a small mound (of dirt) upon which he stands so he is better seen and heard He then spreads his magnificent tail feathers up and over his head into the Lyre shape The tail is only spread and displayed for mating courtship purposes He then sings to his intended, his own songs and mimicking other birds and noises As he sings he moves about (dances) to attract the females attention

Thanks for dropping by my name is Donovan wilson I am a professional landscape and wildlife photographer based in Marysville Victoria I have always had a love of the Australian bush and I hope through these pagers you can see and feel my passion .

Oh Don, Man you’ve nailed it, best lyre bird shot I’ve ever seen. Truly superb… Displaying in a natural environment on top of that branch man, the culmination of all your time and effort has certainly payed off with this one. You’ll sell heaps on the wall at the supermarket I’m sure.

Great capture Donovan! I love the colour you picked up in the tail. I never managed to get a nice photo of a male while in Australia and certainly never saw colour like that! Great depth and framing as well.

  • Thanks for that..
