Good Boy!
My Boy HemiHound…So Expressive, So Smart!
Hemi was a rescue from a kill shelter in Tennessee. We adopted him when he was 8 wks old. At the time we recieved him he was on 4 medications and not eating very well on his own ( I was spoon feeding him). After a couple of days he stopped eating and off to the vet we went. He spent 2 weeks at the vets office with IV’s hooked to him ( I didn’t think he was coming home I was very upset) while they ran tests and pumped him up with puppy power I paced the floors. When Hemi came home he was 8lbs and had 6 meds now for the next 10 days. I boiled chicken ground up with puppy chow and spoon fed him to make sure he received his meds on a full tummy and that all bodily functions were working correctly. After 2 weeks Hemi was eating on his own and received a clean bill of health from his vet. Today Hemi is 1 yr old weighs 95lbs and is extremely intelligent… he sits, lays down, shakes hands, plays ball & retrieves anything, catches a frisbee, plays soccer and walks about 4 miles a day and last but not least wears me out. He is my constant companion and I love him and hope he is with us for a very long time.
Please be part of the solution & not part of the problem…never purchase puppies from puppy mills & always adopt/rescue animals; there are so many to be saved!

Great pose.

What a beautiful boy! This shot brought tears to my eyes, reminding me of a dog I had years ago who has long since gone to doggie heaven. Old Ralph looked just like this fellow.

Thank you all for your nice comments…We rescued Hemi, he came from
a kill shelter in Tennessee (comphiscated from a backyard breeder) and was a very sick pup when we adopted him. It is truly amazing what a little
TLC can do…unconditional, loyal, feeling, and just great company!
Just Love Him! Hemi has a web page on dogster check it out:

I can get my Bas to do most looks but I’ve never managed to capture him cocking his head to one side. A treat of a picture, well done

Get OUT OF TOWN! This is the CUTEST puppy in the world! What a fantastic shot, such a beauitful face, and what a look. Could make butter melt!
DonnaM
Thank you Lisa, He is quite the character…I do believe he’s part clown…lol :)
DonnaM
Hey cmsdesign, thats what I think too, but I tend to be a bit biased…lol!
And because of his ability to melt you like butter he is quite spoiled and knows it! Thank you for taking the time to comment your opinion is always appreciated & ps: I love the work in your bubble, very talented :)

What a sweetie! I read his story and it made me cry. I had to put a dog down last year, because we were moving and my ex was abusive to him (making him a biter.) We moved away from the abusive ex years ago, but it had already traumatized Bubba.
DonnaM replied
Now you made me cry…so sorry for your loss…unfortunately I can relate to that situation also. It took me a little while to get another one. And this is him…all of mine have been rescues & somehow it always ends up we need them just as much as they need us! Thank you for taking the time to comment :)

Hi webbie, thanks for taking the time to look and the congrads are greatly appreciated Donna :)

Congratulations for having your good work Featured on the ANIMAL KINGDOM Home Page! 28 July 2008
He is GORGEOUS!!
And one of the most intelligent and eager-to-please breeds or mixes you can get. Bless you for taking such good (and expensive) care of your sick baby. I’m sure you were rewarded by the help you gave him in itself, but now you have the love of a guy who knows you saved him. Such a sweet photo of him!
DonnaM replied
Thank You Dayonda so much for the congrads! Sometimes I look in his eyes & just can’t believe that thousands of these beautiful animals are put down every year due to irresponsible people, I wish I could save them all but unfortunately, as you stated above it does get very expensive. I feel I am very blessed to have him…he really is such a good boy! Have a Great day! Donna :)
