Florida has so many good paddling destinations but this spring-fed river in the Ocala National Forest is one of my favorites. It’s the only river I’ve canoed where I saw wild turkeys, otters, and monkeys! Legend has it they escaped from a Tarzan movie or a laboratory. I was greatly challenged by the interaction of the abstract patterns of the reflections, the surface ripples, and the flowing dark grasses of the sandy bottom, all while trying to capture the clear depths of this cypress-lined river. Viewers refer to this image as mystic, magical, and serene. Originally an oil painting on 36″ × 24″ stretched canvas, now available for you on RedBubble in a variety of sizes and formats.
