My paintings are my emotional response to particular aspects of our natural world. These could be ephemeral effects of light on land or water, living creatures, or the wind-sculpted trunk of a tree. I have been blessed with a particular gift for vividly portraying animals. However, sometimes it’s not about accurately representing what I see before me; just “following the paint” as I seek Optical Magic will keep me at the easel for hours on end.
As a South Florida-based canoe guide and naturalist, I’ve paddled my canoe for 17 years on waters fresh, salt, and brackish, discovering new delights around every bend.
But ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved farming and am also developing a new series of small oil paintings inspired by my trips to the beautiful state of Tennessee. To me, watching the weather change over the Appalachians is a lot like watching the ocean in the Florida Keys; maybe it’s just light, moisture and heat, but it’s all magic to me.
Thanks for stopping by, and keep an eye on my shop as I will be adding new works frequently!
