As god-child, prankster, model lover, divine hero, or the Supreme Being, Krishna is the most joyful of all the Hindu deities. He was debated as both an avatar and a transcended being, but in modern days, he’s emerged as a spiritual teacher to humanity. His skin color is typically blue but may be depicted as darker in some representations. In this depiction, a black skinned Krishna plays his flute joyously heralding the coming of modern day saint, Mata Amritananadamayi or Ammachi. The original was done in May of 2003 on Strathmore Bristol paper approximately one month before Ammachi’s visit to the Bay Area. I used pen & ink and colored pencils. It was then highlighted with metallic pen, and cut out and mounted on colored paper. Jai Ma!
