Creating is Breathing
My interests vary. At points I want to sculpt. Or sometimes I’d rather make cards or do crafts. Even if I’m into an intense blog post, my art is an ample and willing companion, inevitably a part of what I’m doing at the moment.
The muse speaks loudest when I’m working with pen and ink, so it has become my favorite medium. I remember drawing my little brother when I was eight years old on the porch of my grandmother’s house. It’s accompanied me through turbulent teenage years, young adulthood, and throughout the entirety of my spiritual journey. It is the one aspect of my creativity that has been with me the longest and most consistently. Therefore, my greatest inspiration is expressed this way.
The need to create comes from a visceral place and is the culmination of my life’s experiences. It rises in me like a goddess reaching for the moon, pays its respects to my emotional body, and then flows like a tide from my fingertips onto paper. With art as my companion, I am on a voyage of self-discovery. I’m a work in progress. I thrive in defiance of a vastly changing world.
If you close your eyes and listen, you can hear the accelerated, collective consciousness of this unique time in Earth’s spiritual history. In response to that pulse, I am in rapid forward motion, growing, transforming, and always, always creating.
In fact, creating is like breathing.
I simply must.
