Vincent

How giving the night would have me beneath it’s cloak
As I escape into it’s forgiving silence to paint and it’s beauty soak
The stars are my light in which bring about the beauty hidden
There is a moon which speaks of lighter stillness that has bidden

Lines! Oh these lines which must hold feeling and my attention
Carried upon each one, a loving stroke in which of me is an extension
Through my eyes I know what my mind will spill on my canvas tonight
There is movement as it drips from my brush and onto my art it alights

Blue I give you power to cradle each line that curves into meaning
Atop I can feel the moon that is shouting into the night and beaming
Over all who would rest between night and early morning moan
Sleep now and dream of this oh so “Starry Night Over the Rhone”

Restfulness of creation which is free in flowing, generous in forgiving
Takes hold of me and let’s itself surface as it weaves and curves into living
Where I might look upon my finished work and see there are faults
Your eyes would take it to song and worth beyond what I have sought

Yes, starry are my nights which bed my peace and solitude
Yes, there is meaning which has reached a depth to cause me pain
Yes, I do escape as one would if by pen or paint or clay
Yes, I have found the secret to freeing and releasing life

I felt this was a fitting way to end…
(Last piece for the poetry month challenge by Ken)

Sometimes imagination can be a comforting diversion. I love living and feel blessed to be able to experience life within each day that comes. Grateful I am and thirsty I will always be for more.

These lines gripped me right to “freeing and releasing life” – I could image Vincent Van Gogh alone, destitute but still finding unbelievable beauty in his surroundings – wonderfully written Donna x
