Ring Around The Prose-y
Ring around the daisy…
Pocket full of crazy….
Small I may be and my head hurts!
Here in my heart there is an ache too!
I like words and letters cause they laugh..
They befriend me and never go away….
I can put them together to make anything I want.
We have tea parties and jump rope and sing.
Ring around the grow-ing
Pocket full of know-ing
I learned new words every year and kept them
I sometimes put pictures to them for a story
I have them all in a special place.
Cause I am the only one they play with.
I hide them from place to place to keep them safe.
I trust each one because they tell who I am.
Ring around the prose-y
Pocket full of nose-y
That’s what they are sometimes but I smile at them
My heart gives them faces and names
And my hands give them freedom to BE for me
I am growing and they are too, really beautiful
I like that they are changing with me
I like the new games we play and fun we have
Guess my life would not be okay if I lost them
This is a beautiful work of art that Sergei Rukavishnikov so kindly did
for me. Always an honor to work with someone as fantastic and amazing
as he is. I am just moved by this work and the special place it holds in my heart. The message here is that children should never be denied their passion. To do so is to take away their very heart which may never return.
