Red Plunge

Red Plunge

That split second before the splash, when a perfect sphere of water reflects it’s peaceful surroundings, as if unaware of it’s impending destruction.

Umm … thought you said your efforts fell short??? I think this far surpasses anything I’ve done. Love the calmness of the water and the feeling of impending disruption.

  • Donell Trostrud replied

Thanks Vikram. I did this quite a while ago and it really was a lucky shot that was almost ruined by the flash. I was using a syringe to drop the drops into a plate of water and I kept missing the shot. I was actually trying for the splashes. This was the only one of the series I kept. I’ll try the sink method next.

Fabulous shot Donell – this could be the White Stripes next album cover – they always use red black & white.
How fast did the shutter speed have to be if you don’t mind me asking?

  • Donell Trostrud replied

Thanks for that! The shutter was 1/200 which is the fastest I can go when I use my on-board flash. Hope to get a SpeedLight sometime and really have some fun!
