Don’s New Website Dear friends, please pop on over and take a look at my new Website at FineArtAmerica. It’s another place to display and sell your artworks.

This view of the Tower and the Gherkin was captured from Tower Bridge. I’d never noticed it before, but it was late afternoon light and looked marvellous basking in the sunshine, just had to get a shot. I used the 300mm zoom setting which I knew would compress the building in the background making them appear much closer than they actually are. Worked quite well I think:-)

So are you saying the person that designed the Gherkin should be locked up in the Tower Don?

Well the person who took the shot should get a medal :o)

  • Hehehe, No! At first I didn’t like the Gherkin, but now I love it, it grows on you:-)
I’ll wear that medal with price Robin, thanks mate. Don.

Lovely shot Don..I’ve never seen the gherkin. It was built after I moved north.

  • Hi Jamie, many thanks mate. You’ll have to come and pay a visit again. You’d love the changes to the city, and I don’t mean after all the riots:-) There are some fantastic new buildings and the whole city is looking so much cleaner than in the past.

Nah mate,I’m a country boy now….I went to Manchester and nearly fainted…lol

  • I’ll bet you did Jamie. But there is a beauty in the City. Manchester has such amazing and beautiful old buildings that can look stunning in the right light. But I know what you mean about being a country boy, I’m really missing Devon:-) All the best, Don.

Such a beautiful image Don! I was so sad to see what was happening during the riots. Thanks for showing us this :)

  • Hi Rosemary, those riots, looting and violence were a disgrace to us. It’s been a real wake-up-call for everyone in our nation. We’ve had generations now of children with no moral boundaries who know all of their civil rights but little of real tollerance and respect of others. Perhaps things will change and this dreadful shame can be turned around for the good of the Uk. I really hope so.
London is such a beautiful City and is Normally peaceful and welcoming to everyone. My message would be “Come and experience what the Good people of London have to give” There’s always a SMILE awaiting. Regards, Don.
