What a glorious display the Azaleas and Rhodos put on in the Springtime. Here at Hall Place there are many different types of gardens; sunken, borders, rock gardens, wonderful hedges in all shapes and sizes, beautiful blossom trees, grasses, traditional walled garden plants, herbs, etc…
Azaleas are woodland plants and therefore do best in most half-shaded positions. They will however succeed in the open on practically all lime free soils; providing plenty of peat or leaf mold is mixed with the soil when planting, and annual top mulch of leaf mold placed around the plants to keep surface roots moist. One important point to remember is that all old flower heads must be removed after flowering. Imagine going around all these bushes and pulling off the dead flower-heads:-)

A Floral Arrangement- and what a beautiful one it is- this is stunning Don!!
Wonderful idea Pauline, but arrangement doesn’t quite fit for me, this seems more permanent and therefore repeatable year after year, where an arrangement may be changed tomorrow… Any other ideas:-) Don.
