Photomanipulation. Lighthouse is Smeaton’s Tower on Plymouth Hoe which I captured earlier in the year. Camera. Nikon D700 with 24-120mm Lense. See original Lighthouse below The Moon is provided by DP Photo Mag.
To render this picutre below with the moon, in Elements I copied the background layer, adjusted the colour swatches to blue and black, added an adjustment layer and colour toned it, then selected the sky and made a new layer from that. Then I darkened the sky on the first copied layer to make it inky blue, then added a moon shot that was provided by DP Photo mage, used the blend modes and moved the layer down, resised the moon to fit the pic, selected the windows and changed their colour to give some light. copied that layer and added gausian blur to make it look as if light was shining out of the windows. Added some stars with a paint brush and viloa. The picture you now see. The tricky bit was selecting the glass on the top of the tower to let the moon shine through, which I did with the lassoo tool and punched the selected frames into a new layer then adjusted the colour, saturation and transparancy. and it’s all quite Simples really:-) LOL. Don.
