Royal Marine: Joe Davis: My Son
It was a very proud day when my son Joe passed out from RM Training at Lympstone. After completing the toughest basic training in the world. Just before taking his obstacle course test he sliced into his finger right down to the bone, they just strapped it up and, although he was in agony, he managed to complete it in good time.
On the day this was taken, he was inspected by HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. Along with his mother and girlfriend he was one of the privilleged few to talk with him afterwards.
I’m so proud of Joe, becasue though he was always adventurous he doesn’t have a violent bone in his body. He’ll make a great Marine though, he loves the rough and tumble, and is currently in Borneo practicing jungle warefare.
We’re also quite apprehensive, because he’ll soon be posted to Afghanistan on the peace keeping mission.
Camera: Nikon D700 with 24-70mm Lense.

Lovely photo of a very handsome young man. You have every right to be proud Don.
Hi Jacqui, thanks for that my friend. I’ve just taken a tour of your superb albums, and I love Blackpool. Only been there twice, but I’ll definitely have to go back to capture the light show. Thanks my friend for the warm thoughts. Don.

You must be very proud mate, great shot…one to treasure!!
Hey there Shaun, thanks mate, he’s definitely our little treasure:-) He’s our youngest of 5, and of course he’s the spoilt one:-) But he turned out OK in the end. A bit like Joe in the Bible. LOL.

Fantastic capture, very handsome and you must be very proud of him
Hi Kathy, thank you for the kind words my friend. You’ve correctly spotted that I am:-) We’re really proud, because he didn’t have an easy start in life. He was born deaf in both ears, had a reflux kidney, had an appendix removal at 18 months old, and was almost killed by a bike. However, we’ve seen real miracles in his life, and God really seems to answer all his prayers. He’s our miracle baby. Can hear perfectly now, because we prayed and God opened his ears. The doctors were totally amazed. My wife was on the national radio telling the story in 1989. Sorry to go on so much but we love him. LOL. Thanks again. Regards, Don.

Hi John, thank you for that, we’re very proud, but still apprehensive about where he’ll be sent later on. Still, he’s doing what’s been in his heart since he was a boy.

A superb portrait Don, you’re obviously a very proud Dad and I can see that Joe is also very proud to be wearing the Green Beret. Excellent mate
Hey there Wayne, you know what it takes to get through Marine training and Joe was one of only four of the original intake to complete training. Almost didn’t make it though, he sliced into his finger the night before the Commando Assault Course Test. But, somehow he managed to comeplete it.
