For some reason I like this picture. The almost silhouette of the man on the promenade overlooking the pool, and the solitary figure of the lifeguard, seem to suggest that something is missing: Lots and lots of people. The fact that it was quite cold may have something to do with it. I also love the distant view of the breakwater and of course Plymouth Sound. I remember coming in here on HMS Ark Royal in 1976 standing upon the deck with hundreds of sailors on our return from America. Then slipping out under cover of darkness in the black beastie HMSM Sceptre and Tireless (Nuclear powered submarines). Yes Plymouth Hoe and Plymouth Sound have some wonderful memories.
