Life is a Delicate Ballancing Act
Camera: Nikon D40x with 18-55mm Kit Lense.
About the Image The glass was balanced on a mirror with blue card behind. It proved to be quite tricky to frame the glass with just the mirror in the image. It was only a small mirror, I’ll try a bigger one next time:-) But somehow the tight framing seems to work quite well.
Lights were a table lamp and some sunshine through the window. The glass has a thick green bottom and a golden colour running through it.
I love photographing glass.
As with most things this picture was inspired by my wif’e’s collection of glasses we use when we have people over for meals. One day we’d had a number of people over and afterwards I thought the table looked great for a photograph, the aftermath of the meal. Napkins were scattered, plates were everywhere and half empty wine glasses, coffee cups, half burned candle, it looked awesome and spoke fathoms. It was in stark contrast to how it looked before they arrived. The captured photos reminded me instantly of conversations we’d had, jokes told, secrets shared and touching moments of personal sharing. So this glass was the inspiration for a great work.
The reason it’s at an angle is so that we remember the delicate balance in conversation over a meal, how it can swing from the shallow and irrelevant then move on the deep and meaningful. Conversation always seems to be swinging back and forth.
It’s an art form, having meaninful conversation over a meal. I hope you all have such friendships.
Don.

Don, very well written and a great photograph to balance your words with (I know that’s not a pun, but I tried). I felt as if I was right there at the dinner table and talking away, oh just wait until I come to visit, we will chat up a storm and enjoy food and wine and all the delights God gave us to enjoy with our friends. – Cora
Ha Ha, we normally say, “No pun intended” However, when it’s intended it’s even more fun. Look forward to chatting up a storm. LOL. and that will make for some great atmospheric shots too. Don.
