Burgh Island Sea Passenger Transporter: Bigbury Devon UKby DonDavisUK
The Transporter is used to take people to and from the Island at high tide. Notice the Pilchard Inn with people enjoying a pint of beer. This Inn has been serving people since 1336ad. Burgh Island is a magical place especially for chidlren, the Islan is small you can walk around it in half an hour (if you don’t take time to enjoy the marvellous views that is:)). this is really cool; wish I was there! I love the fact that you said the “people at the Pilchard Inn are enjoying a pint of beer” because I work for hops brokers and we are just finishing up with hop harvest – still have one grower bringing hops to us then we’re done for another year!
Ahh so you make beer? I love a cool pint, especially when I’ve walked over the Island. Thanks! Don.
Fantastic capture & I can nearly taste te beer! ;-)
He He, the beer here is brill too, especially on a warm summer’s day. Thanks mate.

Hi Don, This is a great image, I was taking some photographs of Burgh Island a few months ago and saw this transporter coming toward me. Never saw anything like it before. The Hotel is a bit pricey though.
Sure is David, only the really rich can afford that place. Thanks for viewing and for the comment. Regards, Don.
excellent capture Don Last time we were here the tide was on its way out, we waded across the last bit to get to the Pilchard…worth getting wet My 1st Sale on RB was a canvas of my Burgh Island Panoramic . One of my fave places anywhere
Hey there Mike, thanks for that my friend. It was the place we always went to when the kids were young. It’s so easy to get to from Plymouth. I couldn’t count the number of times we’ve waded across that little gap:-) Glad that you’ve sold a canvas of this, I’ll have to take a gander. God bless and have a wonderful week my friend. Don.
