Big Ben By Night / Morning
Captured at around 5.00am from Westminster Bridge, it had just stopped raining and Big Ben looked beautiful.
Ha ha, I’ve just gotten outta bed, and noticed that the clock actually tells the time, just after quarter past five in the morning. It was worth it though:-) LOL.
Also the real name is St Stephen’s Tower, Big Ben is the Bell.
Camera Nikon D700 with 24-120mm

Regards, Rod.
DonDavisUK replied
Hi Rod, it sure was. I know it’s one of the most photographed, but not at this time of the mornin eh? Don’t know how that starburst effect happened, I didn’t have any special filter on or anything, I’ve not seen it quite like that before. Thanks for your comments Rod, always appreciated mate. Don.

Daidalos
Wow, great capture of this famous tower Don! Very beautiful. Love the warm lighting of the bridge and the clock in contrast to the deep blue sky. And thanks for the info. I had forgotten that Big Ben is only the clock. Most of us think that it is the tower :))
DonDavisUK replied
Hey there Daidalos, thanks for that my friend. Big Ben is the large bell inside the St Stephen’s Tower. Thank you for taking time to view and comment, much appreciated. Hope you have a great day my friend. Don.
Daidalos
:)) Ok, not the clock, not the tower… Big Ben is the bell! I think now I have it Lol :)) Thank you for the info Don! Very interesting
DonDavisUK replied
Hey there Daidalos, that’s not a problem my friend. Until I moved to London last year, I’d always know the whole thing as Big Ben too, in fact most people in the UK would also know it as Big Ben, so it’s not surprising that tourists and people from abroad refer to St Stephens Tower or the Clock as Big Ben. However, I was happy to learn that Big Ben is actually the massive bell that chimes out on the hour. Amazing stuff eh?;
) LOL. Thanks for taking such an interest in one of our most famous landmarks. I hope the Bells keep chiming for you my friend, and that you have a real dinger of a day:) God bless and keep clickin. Don.Ronald Rockman

georgieboy98
What a great story this superb photo tells! OK – it’s 5.15 in London and the lack of traffic says that it’s 5.15 in the morning. The lights reflecting off the wet surface of Westminster Bridge tells us it has recently been raining. From the fact there are no lights shining in the windows of the Houses of Parliament we see that the task of governing the country hasn’t yet started for the day. There’s probably more but I’m a bit bleary eyed as yet!
Photography at it’s best Don. An instant fave. Regards, Peter
DonDavisUK replied

Thank you very much for the complimentary comments on this image. I love going out in the early hours to capture the light and was just a little early but wanted to convey movement. Not much of it at that time though:-) Don.
