Coffee
the bitter scent
buzzing in my nostrils
like
an aromatic
alarm
clock
ambient
the quiet quaking of the pot
black
waterfall
encased in glass
chattering
my morning companion
you are
grab me
the tallest mug
from a dusty shelf stretching
to reach
it
stretching grouchy muscles
flirting with responsibility
I’d rather be
back
in
bed.

Hey I am with you Dominic I just can’t live without the morning Joe! This is sweet
Ha thanks Donna! I’m not a morning person so it’s not until Saturday that I have time to enjoy the real stuff! Have a great day!

I like this! I don’t enjoy coffee because I’m not an average human being (-_-) but I love the concept of dedicating a poem to coffee! I like the lines,
“grab me
the tallest mug
from a dusty shelf stretching
to reach
it
stretching grouchy muscles
flirting with responsibility"
And of course, I can relate to the feeling of wanting to be back in bed!
thanks a lot Katie! every once in a while you just have to take some time to enjoy the simple things :> God bless you!
