The Plight of an Introvert

She sits there
quiet, wordless,
her eyes drift off like clouds

[I’m pulling my hair out
I’m screaming –
justice -
I’m touching your face]

And they pray and they shout and the sing,
but her
tongue is limp
her body sunken

[I claw at Your favour
I wrestle You through shadows and blood and tears
I’m bursting with joy]

She tells you the truth
the whole truth
and nothing but the truth

[I have no words for these hedges
around me
for the ways that You’ve touched me
for these places in my mind that never were]

I guess she has nothing to say.

Artist's Description

Needless to say, I can be an expressionless introvert at times! However, I often have a lot on my mind and process things very deeply. This poem takes a lot of different situations where I’ve felt like I couldn’t express myself and describes what was really going on…
