Pogoria (on the right) – a Polish barquentine launched in 1980 in Gdańsk. She was designed by Zygmunt Choreń. It’s 40,9m long, 33,5m high.
On 7 July 2009 (just after Tall Ships Races), two of the masts on Pogoria broke at welded joints while the ship was en route to St Petersburg, Russia. The 37 youths onboard were airlifted off the ship by two helicopters of the Finnish Coast Guard. The ship was towed into Hanko as her engines were disabled in the incident.
