Kołobrzeg is a city in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in north-western Poland with some 50,000 inhabitants (as of 2000). Kołobrzeg is located on the Parsęta River on the south coast of the Baltic Sea. It is a popular tourist destination for both Poles and the Germans. It provides a unique combination of a seaside resort, health resort, an old town full of historic monuments and tourist entertainment options (e.g. numerous “beer gardens”).
“Kołobrzeg” literally means “by the shore” in Polish: “koło” translates as “by” and “brzeg” translates as “coast” or “shore”.
