Location: Szczeliniec Wielki, Poland
Szczeliniec Wielki (919 m), belongs to the Polish Crown Mountains (Korona Gor Polskich) and is the highest summit of the Table Mountains.
The first evidence of human activity dates back to 1576. During the Thirty Years War, the rocks of Szczeliniec served as a place refuge for Protestants, fleeing repression. In the 19th century it became a widely known tourist attraction. A winding trail leads to the top. The stairs were made in 1814 by Franz Pabel, a village elder from Karlow.
At the observation deck atop the mountain, we can admire a panorama of the Sudety ranges. These panoramas are considered the most beautiful amongst Polish mountains.
