What I Did on My Summer Vacation
by Hippy Chick
I piled into the van with my family for a new adventure! We drove through Iowa (I even got to take a turn driving for about 3 feet!), then on to Minnesota. I met a Tin Man on the north shore of Lake Superior, ate a yummy caramel roll, hiked to a waterfall, ate a healthy sandwich and carrots, visited a lighthouse, sailed a sailboat, had some tastey lemonade, smelled some wildflowers, won some money at a casino, lost some money at a casino, ate wild rice pancakes, then went to Canada!
The border security guy was a little scary at first, asking me all of these questions about what pond I came from and where I was going and if I had flock in Canada. He asked me twice if I was carrying pepper spray (which I, of course, was not). But then he smiled and gave me back my passport and I was leaving the U.S for the very first time!
We went to Thunder Bay. I saw another waterfall, a statue tribute, visited Tim Horton’s (more than once), ate a steak, had Finnish pancakes and sausage for breakfast, and waddled in the rain.
On the way back, I kept my eye on Lake Superior, watching for the whales I heard live there. My family says it’s just a joke, but I kept watching, anyway!
And that’s what I did on my summer vacation!
