Pansy Story by Diane Schuster

Pansy Story by

Every Spring, pansies spring up all over my garden walkways. I allow the pansies, after they bloom, to go to seed and the wind spreads the seed all over my gravel walkways. The magical result of that is pansies happily blooming through out my garden. They cheer me up with their happy faces swinging and swaying in the wind. It’s as if a tiny fairy, waved her magic wand and painted the garden landscape for my delight. This all started with a concentrated planting of various colored pansies in a set of long flower boxes that sit on the ground, bordering my garden. The sun baked the plants because we had to ration our water. I was sure that all of the plants had died. Since I couldn’t plant anything else in that area because of water rationing, I left them where they were and the next Spring they popped up all over, as of to let me know that all was forgiven. I haven’t planted new pansies, since. I just let Mother Nature plant my Pansy garden. I love the wild and untamed look, it suits my untamed nature. And that’s the Pansy Story!

Fabulous!!! I love pansies also. I live in Northern Illinois and it should be cold and snowy now. It was 55 yesterday and the pansies are so pretty. The forcast tomorrow is 6-8 inches of snow and cold. I guess they will be going to sleep for a little bit.

  • They might just be ok under the snow, it’s amazing how well they do. We have a lot of 50 degree days here in the winter and our pansies bloom all winter. Thanks for the visit and great comment, Barbara! Dee
