Ready For Takeoff by

This Summer I went to view the hot air balloons, hoping to get a view of the sky full of beautiful color. When I got there, they were dismantling the balloons because it was already getting too hot for them to fly. I managed to get an image of one that looked as if it were getting ready to lift off. I found out later that it was getting ready to be dismantled also. What a disappointment this was. To sooth myself, I created my own image in photoshop. Using layers, I selected the balloon and copied it into my background image and duplicated it again. I changed the colors of the two balloons to vary it and scaled them to add depth. I used the clone tool to create more mountain in the background and to add more trees. Flood filter added to create the pond in the foreground and reflection. Hopefully I’ll have better luck, next year and guess that I’ll have to be there before sunup to get my images.

Original background image taken in Medford, Oregon with an Olympus 520 camera and a 70-300 lens at 300mm.
