A mystical woodland, complete with mist and filled with the sound of birds. It is a place where creatures go for a retreat. When things are too stressful, or when there isn’t any food or when there’s been a fire and those who have lost their home, need to recover. In this woodland, everything is friendly. No one preys on anyone else and physical and spiritual bodies are healed. This horse has lost it’s mate and feels all alone. He has gone to the woodland to seek answers. Will he always feel alone or will he meet someone new. His spirit is raw from grieving and he needs the tranquility of this woods and the goddess who dwells within. If you look closely, you will see the essence of this goddess. There in the middle of the woods. She is wearing a filmy gown and veil that is trimmed in flowers. The vision of her is created from within the trees, for she is of nature and can only be felt and seen by those who need her the most. If you see her, perhaps you have a need for this mystical woodland. Perhaps you too have lost a loved one, or special companion. Consolation will be given to all who ask, seek the woodland in you mind, it is there, shrouded in mist.

Original background image taken at Rogue Elk Park off of highway 62 near Trail, Oregon

Using layers in photoshop, the image was duplicated on itself x2 and rotated horizontally x1 to make the woods fuller. I used a different blending mode on each layer to add a mystic quality. The horse and butterflies were added as composites, flood filter applied for water and something for the mist to come out of. The image was then processed in dreamy photo to create a dreamy quality. I then applied a layer mask and painted black onto part of the horse and last butterfly to make them clearer.

I’m a 65 year old retired grandmother that loves photography. I love being out in nature and love lots of color, so Autumn is my favorite time of year.
Forests and forest light, waterfalls, flowers and insects are also some of my favorite subjects to photograph.
