Many thanks again, Stephen. I had thought this one was destined for no comments! Quite overcast as you can see, and later I heard the pipes playing a lament as a funeral wound its way from the church on nearby Eriskay.
Superb Hebridean scene Dohmnuill, captures it so well. I love this part of the World – we are off to Harris in a fortnight! Richard
Many thanks, Richard. I’m very envious of your forthcoming trip – Harris is a lovely place – I think I prefer the western side with its magnificent beaches, but Rodel and the rocky inlets of the east are terrific too. I’ll look forward to seeing some pics on RB!
Wonderful! I thought this had to be the Hebrides not Australia!! I love the way that cloud formation – so typical of the Isles – stretches out diagonally across the sky. I was there a year past June and had fantastic weather. The light and contrasts in this shot are great! If you’ve got a link to that traditional song I’d love to hear it! And you could add this shot to the Musically Inspired Art group.
Many thanks, Kasia. Of late, the skies here have resembled those in the shot, as winter gales rage. But there is no Poltalloch Inn here (not far to the right in the scene)!
I don’t have a particular link to the song (“Sea Longing”), but an old rendition by Kenneth McKellar is hard to beat. Still available on CD.
