Northern Light...

Well, you don’t want to hear about it…

Just came back from our late on shcedule Christmas party, so when I got back. I said to myself, lets go to the lake…And see the Northern lights…fine, got the right gear so I don’t freeze my but…

But shit, I broke the damn tripod, and I droped the camera in the snow…Of course, I tried to take pictures with the broken tripod… Nothing worked…

Still I hope you’ll enjoy the picture…

I think you did a great job, especially regarding the conditions.:)

As much as northern lights are amazing to see/experience, they’re really hard to capture. I think the size of the sensor in the camera plays an important role here; the bigger the sensor, the less noise you catch in your image.

I have some compositionally really nice shots of northern lights, but the levels of noise (produced by my tiny Olympus sensor) are simply to high to get a good enough final result.

    Best regards,
    Nikolas

Well done. I remember being able to see the Northern lights on a clear night in Upstate NY. What a site and from where I was I’m sure it paled in comparison. Broken tripod or not, you captured a beautiful image.
