The Circle Rainbow

An arch is the shape which we commonly attribute to rainbows, but did you know that the true shape of a rainbow is that of a circle and not a bow? It is because of our vantage point at the earth’s surface that a portion of the rainbow’s circle remains hidden from our sight. Individuals have, at times, been able to catch a glimpse of the circular rainbow from loftier elevations such as mountain tops or airplanes.

Although we can not always envision the full spectrum of the rainbow because of our earthly orientation, from a heavenly vantage point there is a multi-dimensional wonder that is even more glorious and mysterious than we could imagine. This truth is applicable to much of life: rainbows, art, people and relationships.

Many intricate variables contribute to the evolution of a rainbow. The position of the sun, the presence of water, the angles at which light is refracted, and the orientation of the observer all play an integral part. We learn to see more when we become conscious of our limited earthly perspectives. By remaining aware of the moods, cumulative life experiences and memories that we carry with us throughout life, we can transcend passive observation and begin to believe in the beauty and mystery of what remains hidden.

It is a pleasure for me to be able to share my writing and photography with others as an example of this belief: ALL of life is a multi-dimensional reflection of the light that each of us carries inside!

One day as I was biking I saw a rainbow that was pretty small but fantastic .I was on a path near a river and the rainbow was right over the little road like an arch just for me to go in .I passed a man ,who was biking too and he looked very sad ,I said look at that rainbow ,he smile with sparkles in his eyes and said «thank you» I will always remember that day …thanks for reminding me that beautiful moment with that superb piece of writing…Gigi

thank you for sharing this insight ~ about the rainbows and their true nature ~ I can so relate to your expression of understanding to extend the same consideration of our limited “views” of our senses to the realm of relationship ~ to people and the world we live in. Our “perception” is the nature of reality ~ and when stretched to include beyond ~ is when the mystery and riches of this world ~ can truly show up and be savored xx
