In a historic village called “1880 Town” near Murdo, SD there is a perfectly preserved Old West village with a simulated cowboy shoot out on main street and the whole nine yards. Its a little corny, but worth the stop. Besides some interesting historical buildings and artifacts, there is a museum full of items from the movie set “Dances with Wolves” (filmed near Murdo). Also a resident of 1880’s town was Cisco, the famous “Dances with Wolves” horse.
Theold train on its wooden rails was fascinating and I thought that the effect I later added gave it a real “story book” feel.
